First Incumbency Leadership Pathway

What can you expect?

Our pathway is centred around creating interactive learning and development spaces where you can address the issues that are most relevant to you. It’s a blend of responsive input that offers ideas and guidance, and peer learning. You’ll be actively contributing to each other’s learning and growth while also receiving support from more experienced practitioners.

The pathway consists of four key components:

• Learning Days. You’ll gather with the whole cohort of new incumbents six times a year. The programme for these sessions will include input that we will plan collaboratively with all of you to ensure it is scratching where you’re itching.
• Action Learning Sets. An Action Learning Set is a group of up to six church leaders who meet regularly, led by a trained facilitator in a coaching style. We can link you with an Action Learning Set, if you are not already engaged with some form of reflective practice.
• One-to-One Mentoring. A mentor can be an invaluable support and we recommend all new incumbents meet with a more experienced mentor for some one-to-one sessions. We can assist you with finding a suitable mentor if needed.
• Additional Coaching Support. We have a bank of professional coach sessions we can deploy for participants needing additional focussed support in working through particular challenges (or opportunities) in their ministry.

As the pathway progresses, we will review its effectiveness with you to ensure it delivers the most impactful leadership learning possible for you and the cohorts of new incumbents that will follow.
