Support in your Ministry (SIM) recruits volunteers, both lay and clerical, who are trained and selected by the Management Group to be Assistants.
Assistants meet with each of their Users several times a year, in complete confidence, to provide support, challenge, time for reflection and encouragement. The agenda for each meeting is established by the User. In practice, Users often stay with the same Assistant for several years, but they may request a change at any time.
SIM is voluntary and entirely confidential; it complements mentoring, counselling and spiritual direction schemes.
SIM supports clergy, readers, accredited ministers and churchwardens; their partners are also welcome to become Users of the Scheme. Some Rabbis are Users, and SIM has a small number of Jewish Assistants.
