There are times in ministry when it can be valuable to seek focused support in navigating particular challenges or opportunities. We would encourage you to reflect on the descriptions below, to help you decide which support best fits your needs at the current time (support is offered to those in formal ministry roles).
Coach
A coach offers a structured, forward-looking, non-directive space in which you can think more clearly, deepen self-awareness, and identify purposeful, self-generated next steps. Coaching is a partnership of equals, centred on unlocking insight, clarifying priorities, and supporting confident, intentional action.
You might choose coaching when you want to:
- regain clarity and focus in a busy or shifting ministry context
- strengthen confidence and motivation as you face new or unfamiliar responsibilities
- develop your own solutions to leadership, vocational, or personal effectiveness questions.
Mentor
A mentor brings relevant experience and wisdom from further along the path of ministry. Mentoring provides a confidential relationship in which guidance, perspective, and encouragement are offered. It supports growth through shared experience, reflective conversation, and grounded insight.
You might choose mentoring when you want to:
- navigate a significant transition such as a new parish, role, or ministry setting
- reflect with someone who understands your tradition, context, or ministerial challenges
- explore vocational direction, identity, or development with an experienced guide.
Leadership Consultant
A Leadership Consultant offers expert, practical input on the leadership dimensions of ministry. This support is directive and skills focused, strengthening competencies in conflict navigation, team dynamics, resilience, organisational leadership, and preparation for new roles.
You might choose leadership consultancy when you want to:
- develop your capacity to lead teams, manage conflict, or handle complex pastoral situations
- prepare for applications, interviews, or transition into senior or more demanding roles
- gain external insight into leadership challenges that affect your parish or ministry setting.
Work Consultant
A Work Consultant helps you examine and improve your working habits, routines, and systems so that your time, energy, and resources are used more effectively. This is practical, process orientated support that promotes sustainable ministry.
You might choose work consultancy when you want to:
- establish healthier boundaries, rhythms, or routines during times of heavy workload
- improve how you organise tasks, prioritise commitments, or structure your week
- develop sustainable patterns for long term wellbeing and effective ministry.
Pastoral Supervisor
A Pastoral Supervisor provides a regular, planned, intentional, and boundaried reflective space led by a practitioner trained in supervision. The relationship is characterised by trust, confidentiality, support, and openness. It is psychologically, spiritually and theologically informed, contextually sensitive, and praxis-based, enabling deeper reflection on your ministry, its impact, and your vocation.
You might choose pastoral supervision when you want to:
- explore the emotional, spiritual, and relational impact of your ministry in a safe space
- strengthen self-awareness, resilience, and accountability in your ongoing ministerial practice
- reflect on complex pastoral encounters, boundaries, or pressures with skilled guidance.
