On Sunday 7 December, friends, family, and the St Mary’s Church community gathered in Redbourn to give thanks and celebrate Jim and Sue May as they prepare to leave the Diocese of St Albans.
Jim’s contribution to diocesan life has been significant. For many years he served as Pastoral and Advisory Secretary, and even in retirement he continued to give generously of his time and gifts through the Diocesan Advisory Committee (DAC), Diocesan Synod, and as Lay Chair of Wheathampstead Deanery Synod. His wife, Sue, is also currently serving as Deanery Synod Secretary for Wheathampstead Deanery and is a churchwarden at St Mary’s.
The service brought together friends, family, the church community, and diocesan colleagues past and present, who joined in prayer and thanksgiving for Jim and Sue’s ministry. Their commitment, wisdom, and kindness have left a lasting mark on the Diocese, and their departure was met with both gratitude and heartfelt good wishes.
We give thanks for Jim and Sue’s many years of devoted service and pray for God’s blessing upon them as they embark on this new chapter in their lives.
