Six new Readers were licensed at the annual Reader Licensing Service at St Albans Cathedral on Sunday 27 September. The service celebrated Reader ministry across the Diocese and gave thanks for the important contribution Readers make through preaching, teaching, leading worship and supporting mission in their local communities.
The following people were licensed during the service:
- Stephen Axford, Eaton Bray with Edlesborough
- Natalie Edwards, Harlington, Tingrith and Westoning
- Rose Forde, Luton St Andrew
- John Hayes, Aldenham, Radlett and Shenley
- Kim Kingston, Barkway, Barley, Reed and Buckland
- Vikki Thomas, Bedford Christ Church

What is a Reader?
Readers are lay people who are trained, and licensed by the bishop, to preach and teach, enable mission and lead in church and society. They might have a broad ministry inside and outside the church, or might focus their ministry in a particular area such as preaching, schools work or funeral ministry to name just a few.
