Preaches and Teaches
- Preaches and teaches people of all ages and backgrounds, in a way that is engaging, relevant and challenging so that they go deeper in understanding the Christian faith;
- Helps people to grow in their personal faith, to pray and to lead Christian lives;
- Works to grow the faith of children and young people; and
- Establishes and/or runs groups that nurture Christian discipleship.
Leads Worship
- Enables people to meet with and glorify God through the way he/she leads worship;
- Creates Fresh Expressions and pioneer ministries; and
- Is passionate about his/her own faith, setting a good example of Christian life and worship.
Engages in Mission
- Helps the church to grow in numbers by facilitating and encouraging mission, outreach and evangelism;
- Has a compelling vision for the future of the church and its ministry, and helps to maintain a sense of momentum, keeping hope alive even in difficult times; and
- Is actively engaged in the local community; for example, schools, hospitals and workplaces.
Cares and Tends
- Visits the sick, cares for people in their times of need, and helps others to do so;
- Confronts injustice, and engages in social action that addresses local needs; and
- Protects the vulnerable and the environment.
Encourages and Nurtures
- Identifies people’s gifts and enables them to use these gifts in the church and beyond; and
- Helps people to hear God’s calling and to explore Christian vocation.
Works Effectively and Cares for their Own Well-Being
- Collaborates with others, delegates areas of responsibility and works well with colleagues and volunteers;
- Is organised, disciplined, punctual and efficient in his/her administration;
- Devotes time to reading, study and personal growth; and
- Stays healthy in body, mind and spirit, and achieves a good balance between work and time off.
