October marks the start of Black History Month in the UK, an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the invaluable contributions of Global Majority Heritage people to British society.
In this short introduction to our Black History Month series, Ben Hammond, the Diocese’s Racial Justice Officer, introduces this year’s theme, Many Stories, One Hope, and looks ahead to the stories that will be shared during the month.
Throughout October, we will be sharing a series of videos exploring the experiences, perspectives and contributions of Global Majority Heritage people from across the Diocese and beyond.
The theme Many Stories, One Hope recognises that every person’s story is unique, while also pointing to the hope we share in Christ. Through these stories, we hope to encourage listening, learning and a deeper appreciation of the diversity that enriches the Church.
Watch Ben’s introduction below and look out for further videos during Black History Month.
