Hundreds of pupils and staff from Church of England schools across the Diocese gathered at St Albans Cathedral last week for a series of Harvest Festival services.
Three services took place on 13 and 14 October in the Cathedral Nave, bringing together church schools from across the Diocese for worship, celebration and reflection as they marked the harvest season.
The services were led by Bishop Jane, with pupils taking an active role throughout. Children and young people contributed Bible readings, prayers, narration and musical performances.
The choir of St Mary’s High School, Cheshunt, led worship at all three services, providing music for the congregations and serving as positive role models for the younger pupils attending.
In her address, Bishop Jane reflected on the Parable of the Rich Fool (Luke 12:16-21), encouraging pupils to think about generosity and the importance of sharing what they have with others rather than storing up wealth for themselves.
