Job Advert
St Luke’s Watford, an evangelical Anglican church, is praying for a dynamic, creative, passionate and flexible individual to supplement its leadership team. Our longstanding and much valued Youth Director is currently also serving as Ordinand with us whilst training for ordained ministry. We are therefore looking for an assistant to the Youth Director, working with our lovely young people and their families. There is an opportunity for a more senior role in the longer term depending on the candidate.
You will be working alongside the Youth Director, developing the spiritual life of young people from the age of 11 through to 18 years, and engaging with and encouraging their families through life issues as they parent for faith. You will have a strong Christian faith based on good biblical understanding and hold to the vision and mission of St Luke’s Church.
This role is about creating spaces where young people feel welcomed, valued, and encouraged to grow in faith and friendship. This includes Sunday groups, midweek gatherings, and special events that are fun, engaging, and full of life – working alongside the Youth Director and a brilliant team of volunteers, our staff team, and families across the church.
Part of the role is to enable young people to grow within and contribute to the wider church family, rooted in gospel teaching. The other part is to consider creatively the links with the wider community, and how we can build bridges from these activities to bring young people and their families into deeper relationship with Christ.
This will be a great opportunity for someone who feels called to be involved in innovatively cultivating ministry with young people, and expanding work with families, both within and outside the church. There is a possibility of further training and career opportunities in Youth Ministry alongside the role.
This position is a one-year, fixed term contract for 20 hours work per week at an annual salary of £17,400. Although some flexibility around working hours is available to accommodate study, work and family commitments, there is a specific requirement to work on Sunday mornings and some weekday evenings.
Starting date: From July 2026
