Drop In Volunteer, Youthscape
Role:
- Building positive, informal relationships with young people.
- Engaging in different activities with young people e.g. playing card games, challenging them to a game of pool, using the PS5s, supporting them with homework, talking through their day, praying with them etc.
- Supporting the rest of the team around dinner time e.g. helping serve food, managing conversation around the dinner table etc.
- Managing behaviour using our ‘three warning’ system.
- Clearing up after the session.
Requirements:
- Strong Christian faith and connected to a local church community
- Enhanced DBS required
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well in a team
- Ability to relate to young people and build appropriate, encouraging relationships with them
- Experience working with or supporting young people in some capacity e.g. volunteering in church, work in a school or other relevant environment
- Understanding of good safeguarding practices.
Commitment:
Volunteers will need to be available for one Bute Mills Drop-in or Bute Mills Youth Group session per week and will be expected to commit to supporting within the same session each week for at least one term.
