The Church of England’s General Synod was dissolved on Tuesday 14 July 2026, formally ending the term of its current membership. Elections to General Synod for the next five years are now underway in each diocese. Further information about these elections can be found on the General Synod elections website.
The electorate for each house is the clergy and lay members respectively of Deanery Synods within the diocese as at 0600 on 14 July 2026. Details of qualifications for candidates for nomination are given in the documents which are downloadable below.
Nominations are now closed and the details of candidates who are standing are shown below. Please note that election addresses are two pages in length and if you are previewing rather than downloading them you will need to scroll down to read them in their entirity. These documents will also be available via the Civica voting site. Voting opens on 21 September and voting links and codes will be sent to members of the electorate by Civica on that date. Please email us at governance@stalbansdiocese.org if you have not received your voting link by 22 September. Online voting closes on 13 October at 1700. Those who are unable to use the Civica portal for voting will be sent a paper voting form (the closing date for postal votes is 12 October).
